Natural Habitat :

Endemic to the Mediterranean, this alga is present across the Western Mediterranean Sea and Ionian Sea. It is absent from the Oriental basin, with the exception of the Turkish coast. Its presence outside of the Mediterranean is only indicated on the Canary Islands.

Harvest :

It is formed of reddish brown or yellowy green, almost frizzy ribbons or strips, longer than they are wide (5-10cm long, 1-3cm wide). It has a rubbery texture. The yellow colour, vaguely orange or red, varies with light and humidity. It hardens and becomes more brown in colour when it has been out of the water for a long time. It resumes its normal appearance when it comes into contact with water again.

Appearance :

Harvested by hand on the rocks.
