Natural Habitat :

Originates from Malaysia, to the north-east of Borneo.

Harvest :

Red in colour, the thallus is made up of a disc-shaped base with a main axis and numerous branches.

Appearance :

In is cultivated and grows in tufts on lines tightened by pegs. One cluster can reach 20 to 60kg.

Components :

Rich in minerals (potassium, sodium, magnesium) and oligo-elements, especially silicium, zinc, iodine, copper and selenium. Rich in kappa carrageenans and oligosaccharides.

Biomass-Extracts-Properties :

Algae used for its hydrating extracts that are beneficial to dermic structures.

Uses in Cooking :

It makes up part of a diverse diet of countries in the far East.

Other Uses :

Algae cultivated for the gel which can be extracted from it, which is used in agribusiness as a stabilising and thickening agent.
