Natural Habitat :

It can be found in the Mediterranean and in the Atlantic. It lives in calm waters on sunlit rocks, close to the surface down to 20m deep. It is also found in sandy basins and in sea grasses. It can also grow epiphytically on brown algae.

Harvest :

It is a perennial, chalky algae that forms a bush of 2-5cm in diameter. The calcified and soft segments follow one another, giving it a certain suppleness. It looks like a pinkish-violet pompom. When it died, this colour fades to white.

Appearance :

It is harvested by hand.

Components :

Very rich in minerals: 25% proteins, 68% polysaccharides, including coralline (agar-like xylogalactan). It also contains numerous amino acids of which 38% is proline.

Algae used for its extracts that: -are remineralising properties due to concentration of minerals and oligo-elements (20,000-40,000 times superior to seawater) -have softening, ultra-hydrating and protective properties, very similar to the skin -protect the body from harmful environmental effects and maintain a maximum level of hydration -have anti-ageing properties, by increasing firmness of the skin, restoring cutaneous volume and reducing degradation of supporting structures of the skin. Works in synergy with Meristotheca dakaraensis.
