Haematococcus pluvialis
Category :
Micro-alga - Green alga - Chlamydomonadales
Natural Habitat :
It is present on all continents except Antarctica. Found in soft water, preferably fresh, and quite frequently in stores of stagnant water.
Harvest :
This unicellular green-coloured alga is more or less oval-shaped and had two flagella, which make it very mobile. In cases of environmental stress, such as sunlight, it loses its flagella and fills the vacuole with secondary carotenoids, notably astaxanthine. The cell can also exist in a cyst rich in globules of astaxanthine.
Appearance :
The algae can be cultivated in reactors or in basins.
Components :
It is very rich in carotenoids, especially astaxanthine.
Biomass-Extracts-Properties :
Algae used for its extracts that:
- stimulate cell metabolism
-are powerful anti-radicals
-protect against UV damage
Use :
Ocean Memory, Oxygen Anti-Pollution range, Ocea Sun nutritional supplement.
Characteristics :
Frequently found in gardens, in plastic containers which collect rainwater, where it forms a red deposit at the bottom.
